The guide to underbody protection

By EVAN SPENCE

There you are, driving through a massive mud hole in the middle of the track—and bang—a lone rock has punctured something vital on your vehicle’s underbody. Maybe it’s the fuel tank, maybe it’s your oil pan or gearbox, all you know is that your vehicle no longer has what it needs to keep moving forward. Underbody Armour and why you need some bolt-on protection

By ANDREW MIDDLETON

Whether you’re rock crawling or overlanding, the added safety that underbody protection provides may be a lifesaver for you and your vehicle. Your best friends in such a situation – additional recovery vehicle aside – are going to be a winch, the always-packed snatch strap and shackles, plus your rated recovery points on which you’ll attach the strap or winch cable.

10 Things you should NOT do in a 4x4 Recovery

By Jacques Coetzee

1. Ignore your tyre pressures Tyre pressures are the most critical thing you can control when 4×4’ing. There’s a very good chance that the tyre pressures of the vehicle you are recovering are incorrect, so check the pressure and adjust. In sand especially, this is the easiest way to make a recovery simple, safe and quick. Don’t be afraid to let your tyres down a bit more if needed; it makes a huge difference.

Recovery Points and Why Use Them - CLUB 4X4

By Chantal

Recovery Points are one of those pieces of gear that you don’t ever want to have to use, but when you inevitably do, you need to be able to rely on it. Seeing as none of us are perfect (ha!) there’s a good chance at some point off-road, you will need to have someone hitch a strap to your car to snatch you out.
